With a maritime career spanning 4 decades, on various vessel types, I have been a Pilot or Master for 20 years and held Pilot licenses and Pilotage exemptions in many ports in New Zealand, the UK, and Europe. Currently, I am a Port Nelson and Queen Charlotte Sound Pilot.

I am the VP of the New Zealand Maritime Pilots’ Association, a role in which I have focused on building functional and collaborative relationships between the Association, New Zealand Port Companies, and both Regional and National regulatory bodies with the objective of promoting best practice in marine pilotage. I am also the NZ Pilot Magazine content editor and features writer.
