James is a Chartered Engineer, psychologist and a Principal Consultant at The Keil Centre. He started his career in military aviation and after 20 years in the British Royal Navy and Royal Air Force moved into consulting. He worked for 10 years in the aviation sector, delivering human factors, risk management, and investigation training as well as providing consultative support. He moved to the Keil Centre to broaden his industry experience. James’ primary area of interest has been Safety Cultures, focussing on the assessment of safety performance, and the development of strategies for driving behavioural and organisational change.
James holds an MSc in Human Factors and Safety Management, a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. He is married with two young sons and is a keen windsurfer and mountain biker.
